In this case report, we present an individual with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented featuring an unusual clinical presentation.
The patient's initial symptoms included marked proximal muscle weakness, along with bladder dysfunction. Analysis of cerebrospinal fluid revealed elevated protein levels indicative of amyloid deposits. Neuroimaging studies demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.
The treatment plan included supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. However treatment, the patient's condition continued to worsen. This case emphasizes the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with progressive neurological symptoms, particularly those with asymmetric limb involvement.
An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report
We report a unique case of Crohn's disease in a 28-year-old female presenting with uncharacteristic symptoms. The patient initially presented manifestations of abdominal pain, which were misdiagnosed as a common gastrointestinalillness. Further investigation revealed colitis. The patient received conventional treatment for Crohn's disease, including steroids. The prognosis to treatment was positive.
This case highlights the significance of a thorough clinical evaluation in patients with suspected Crohn's disease, as its presentation can be varied.
Findings
A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.
Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.
The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.
